Solidarity is the tenderness of peoples, Ernesto Ché Guevara

Declaration of International Solidarity with Cuba by Student Representatives Worldwide.

Cuba is the vanguard of a new human world. In the process of societal transition from “human beings as commodities” to “human beings as human beings,” Cuba’s focus on each individual for the sake of the whole (e.g., the Cuban healthcare system) and the shaping of the whole for the sake of each individual (e.g., Cuban diplomatic efforts for peace) plays a central role. Therefore, the small island and its revolution are an antidote to imperialist selfishness—at every level.

On June 8, 2026, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, warned: “The fuel restrictions imposed since the beginning of 2026 and the recent tightening of extraterritorial sanctions, taken together, are directly harming Cubans, particularly the most vulnerable segments of the population. Children are dying because doctors have no access to essential medical supplies and medications. This is unacceptable.” This reaction by the empire speaks more to its unbridled intent to destroy than to Cuba itself. Global arms buildup, unilateral coercive measures against sovereign states, and scandals such as the Epstein Files show that this destructive nature is no coincidence, but rather an expression of a system based on exploitation—a system that is reaching its limits and threatens to bring an end to humanity’s progress.

We—students from all over the world—declare: We want to live. And we want to live well. Ending the blockade against Cuba and the accompanying implementation of international law are our top priorities. As international intellectuals, we view the “Cuban path” as a necessary, hopeful alternative to war and misery. A path that requires and deserves all our strength, all our knowledge, and all our hearts in order to be continued and expanded. A path that can and will be honored and realized in our schools and universities, in research centers and lecture halls, on campus and in dormitories, and simply everywhere where students are fighting for their right to bread and dignity.

We therefore assure our Cuban fellow students, as well as the entire Cuban people and their government, of our unconditional solidarity and express our deep contempt and rejection of the U.S. government’s economic war against Cuba. We demand the immediate lifting of all sanctions against Cuba and worldwide; that scientific collaborations with Cuban universities be initiated and expanded in our country; that civilian research and education replace and expand upon military activities; that the foundation for a life of dignity for all people worldwide be established; and that access to lifelong education be made possible for all —this is what the Cuban example teaches us about the development of global civilization.

¡Viva la solidaridad internacional!

¡Viva la paz!

¡Viva Cuba!
